Popravyny [The post-wedding ceremonies]
The post-wedding ceremonies are called popravyny in Canada. Close friends, relatives and guests who come to the wedding from out-of-town tend to be specifically invited to a hall or home on Sunday afternoon. The main focus for some is watching the bride and groom unwrap their gifts, which range from money to household goods, art to appliances.

Mock wedding
A mock wedding can take place at the popravyny. In Canada, this tradition seems to have been maintained primarily in the province of Saskatchewan. This period of revelry and chaotic entertainment by the bridal party and/or friends and family of the young couple is meant to function as a parody of the actual wedding from the previous day. The characters often include the bride and groom, bridal party, priest and others, in costume. The performers often play characters of the opposite gender. Specific incidents that occur in the actual wedding are dramatized and parodied as part of the mock wedding. Such an event is meant to "turn the world upside-down" and provide those guests gathered with raucous improvised entertainment.
